Who can benefit from this series?

Both beginner and seasoned yoga practitioners interested in a well-rounded practice that include the traditional foundations of yoga:

  • Meditation
  • Asana

If you are enjoying the benefits of yoga and would like to develop a home practice, this series offers a suitable framework to establish a solid personal practice.

How does it work?

As any yoga practitioner knows, safe practice grows slowly over time through our personal commitment. Once a month we meet for a 4 hour workshop session. There is one session every month except in June. There are specific topics covered in each session, with some flexibility to accommodate each participant’s inquiry. Each session consists of:

  • Yoga Philosophy Discussion 1 hour (55 min + 5 min break)
  • Asana exploration 1.5 hour (80 min + 10 min break)
    • Exploring potential approaches
    • Practice
  • Pranayama 40 minutes
  • Meditation 40 minutes
    • Exploring techniques
    • Practice

Do I have to sign up for the whole year?

In the past we have seen that long term students reap the most benefits. We encourage you to make the commitment to yourself and to your practice to dedicate one afternoon per month to keeping your practice alive, fresh and exciting. Of course, we understand that previous commitments and obligations may keep you from attending every session, and thus registration for the series is open enrollment.

He mentored Ram Dass, the Harvard psychology professor fired with Timothy Leary for their experiments into LSD. Since the 1960s, Bhagavan Das has worked as a kirtan chanter and guru. He has also slept with over 500 women while at times dropping his spiritual calling to sell used cars and encyclopedias. View & discuss the Breath of the Gods with our Yoga Integrity Teacher Training program.

Modern yoga, that is, the form practiced daily by tens of millions of people around the world, goes back directly to Lord Shiva according to Indian tradition. At the same time, however, modern yoga originated in the early 20th century, a creation of Indian savant T. Krishnamacharya (1888-1989). That story is far less known and is what this film is all about.

Krishnamacharya’s life and teachings are seen through the eyes of the director Jan Schmidt-Garre on his search for authentic yoga. His journey leads him from the legendary students and relatives of Krishnamacharya’s to the source of modern yoga, at the palace of the Maharaja of Mysore. From Pattabhi Jois Jan learns the “Sun salutation”, from Iyengar the “King of Asanas”, the headstand, and finally Sribhashyam reveals to him his father’s secret “Life Saving Yoga Session”.

MAX STROM WORKSHOP

Held at the St. Petersburg Garden Club 500 Sunset Drive South St. Pete 33707 (corner of Park Street & 5th Ave South)

A Life Worth Breathing – Friday 1/24/2014 6:30-8:30 pm
lecture and movement

This special workshop is focused on transforming depression into inspiration. This workshop is known for its healing, penetrating affect, leaving students feeling renewed and open. The workshop we will begin with a talk by Max based on ideas from his book. This will be followed by the integration of breathing exercises and yoga movement. The final segment of the workshop will focus on seated breathing exercises to revitalize and inspire your body, your emotions, and your life.

Max Strom’s Yoga- The Empowerment of Breath-Initiated Movement Saturday 1/25/2014 10:00am-12:00 pm
movement based class

Take a proactive approach to your health and happiness, rather than a reactive approach. Breath-initiated movement as taught by Max Strom can be the catalyst of an emotional log-jam being swept away, allowing desperately needed change to occur spontaneously within you. This can turn grief into joy, and transform long-term anger into the possibility of forgiveness. The physical benefits come as a side affect. This workshop will not only teach you how to move in concert with your breathing practice, but also a holistic practice of vitality and healing.

The Healing Power of Forgiveness Saturday 1/25/2013 1:30pm-3:30pm
2 hours all levels – lecture

Forgiveness is perhaps the most powerful tool we have for healing ourselves. To forgive another, heals oneself, just as anger toward another poisons oneself. Anger and resentment destroy our lives. For the body to heal, often times what is most vital is to heal the broken heart or spirit. Failure to forgive affects our stress level, power to heal the body, discernment, and all our relationships. The first part of this seminar is a powerful lecture on forgiving others, the second part will address forgiving oneself. Max has taken the message of forgiveness around the world to a people of many faiths, nationalities, and life philosophies. Bring writing materials. Appropriate for all levels.

Cost $45 each before January 1st, 2014 or all three for $120. After January 1st, 2014 $50 each or all three workshops for $135.00

Hosted by Yoga Etc Studio. Register in person, at info@yogaetcstudio.com or at 727-644-4554
